Respected Managing Director AIBM College, Mr Ehthesham, Chief Guest, Madam Kalpana Kattimani, Principal AIBM College, Teaching, Non Teaching Staff And My Dear Students.

We have gathered here to celebrate the 69th Independence day. on this occasion it’s a great pleasure for me to extend greetings for your happiness and prosperity. My greetings to you and all the Indians living here and abroad. On this special occasion we shall remember with gratitude, the selfless and devoted services of our Armed Forces and Police Forces for preserving our internal security and maintaining law and order.

We as Indians! We respect plurality, assimilate different cultures & revel in the diversity, compassion. Sympathy runs through us, which in turn has given this country tremendous scope to improve on its own, unity in diversity shall be kept alive and intact. On this occasion as we are celebrating 69th Independence day we also mourn one of our beloved President and peoples leader, tributes and condolences for Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who passed away in Shillong, Meghalaya, after a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to the students of Indian Institute of Management on 27th of July 2015. Loved dearly by the young, Known as the Missile Man of India, Dr Kalam played a pivotal role in the Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. it is a great loss not only to India but to the entire fragment of world students.

Everyone present here I am sure is born in independent INDIA, It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent. We won freedom after a hard struggle. Since, our date of birth is post independent, it’s a bit difficult to understand or to get a real picture of pre-independence era. But, in this era of internet and social media no research and knowledge is impossible. we must realise the significance and the value of our freedom movement. The freedom struggle of India is full of sacrifices. More than 7 lakhs freedom fighters laid their lives as the cost of this freedom. We got freedom due to the great sacrifices of our martyrs, who had always with enemies of this nation with uninterrupted thought of future of this country.

Education is the most important element for growth and prosperity of a nation.Fortunately after our independence in 1947, we have come a long way in the field of education and have moved towards a knowledge society, as a result of the vision of our educationalists and the policies and actions of successive governments. Many of our educational institutions have excelled in the world. In order to revitalise our self-esteem and culture, it is vital to emphasise the role of the education system in creating an enlightened, dynamic and prosperous society utilising the advancement of science and technology.

Students here today are the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. In course of time,  you all will take place of our present leaders and administrators.  It is during the student life where the foundation is laid. In free india, duties and responsibilities of all indians have been increased. But the students have to play a special part in all that. Their duties and responsibilities are higher than that of any other.

The students here and all over the country shall realize fully the significance of the change we can bring to our country. our activities should be desirable and unobjectionable. In what so ever field or career we choose, we must contribute our best and we shall bring about a change in the world. Today the entire world is looking towards us with hope.

We need to understand that the India now Needs constructive work for overall development. We have to beat some very mighty nations of the world to become the superpower very soon.

I am sure, our youth, our leaders and our people can achieve the vision of developed India. Let us take a vow on this Independence Day that the nation is more important compared to any individual, party  or organisation.

I pray to the Almighty for Unity of Minds and our success in every aspect of life.
Jai Hind.

Remembering the Dandi March on India's 69th Independence Day

1. Unperishable thoughts
One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. - Subhash Chandra Bose.

2. Mind over machine guns
Bombs and pistols do not make a revolution. The sword of revolution is sharpened on the whetting-stone of ideas. - Bhagat Singh.

3. The religion of togetherness
The emphasis on religion as a basis of defining majorities and minorities in a secular state is quite misplaced and contradiction in terms. You all understand, I am sure, that religion does not aim at dividing. On the other hand, all true religions have a basic unity. - Lal Bahadur Shastri.

4. The first step forward
Progress is implied in independence. Without self-government neither industrial progress is possible, nor the educational scheme will be useful to the nation.
- Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

5. The power of the youth
What the country needs most at the present moment is a spirit of self-sacrifice on the part of our educated young men, and they may take it from me that they cannot spend their lives in a better cause than raising the moral and intellectual level of their unhappy low castes and promoting their well-being. - Gopal Krishna Gokhale.

6. Ideal India
No one would die of starvation in independent India... Its military expenditure would not be heavy. Its army would not subjugate its own people or other lands. Its best-paid officials would not earn a great deal more than its lowest-paid servants. And finding justice in it would be neither costly nor difficult. - Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

7. Sinless society
Seven social sins: politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, and worship without sacrifice. - Mahatma Gandhi.

8. The changemakers among US
If a country is to be corruption-free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. - APJ Abdul Kalam.

9. Defining oneself : I say it is not your pride that you are a Madrasi, it is not your pride that you a brahmin, it is not your pride that you belong to south India, it is not your pride that you are a Hindu, that it is your pride that you are an Indian. – Sarojini Naidu.

10. More than legalities
So long as you do not achieve social liberty, whatever freedom is provided by the law is of no avail to you. - BR Ambedkar.
