Blue Pigeon

This was an incident which happened when Dr. Kalam was President of india.

Kalam sahab was very worried about a plague of pigeons in the Rashtrapati bhawan. He could not remove the pigeons from Rashtrapati bhawan. The whole Rashtrapati bhawan was full of pigeon poop, the people coming there could not walk on the pavements, or sit on the benches. It was costing a fortune to keep the building and pavements clean.

One day a man came to the Rashtrapati bhawan and offered the President a proposition.

"I can rid your beautiful Rashtrapati Bhawan of its plague of pigeons without any cost to you or government. But, you must promise not to ask me any questions. Or, you can pay me one Crore rupees to ask one question."
The President considered the offer briefly and accepted the free proposition. The next day the man climbed to the terrace of Rashtrapati Bhawan, opened his suitcase, and released a blue pigeon. The blue pigeon circled in the air and flew up into the bright blue Delhi sky.

All the pigeons in Delhi saw the blue pigeon and gathered up in the air behind the bird. The Delhi pigeons followed the blue pigeon as she flew eastwards out of the city.

The next day the blue pigeon returned completely alone to the man on top of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The President was very impressed. He felt the man and the blue pigeon had performed a wonderful miraculous service to rid Delhi of the plague of pigeons. Even though the man with the pigeon had charged nothing, the President presented him with a cheque for 1 Crore rupees and told the man that, indeed, he did have a question to ask and even though they had agreed to no fee and the man had rid the Rashtrapati Bhawan of pigeons, he decided to pay the 1 Crore just to get to ask one question.

The man accepted the money and told the President to ask his single question.

The President asked, "Do you have a blue Politician ?"

Aurangzeb Road to APJ Abdul Kalam Road

NDMC has decided to rename Aurangzeb Road to APJ Abdul Kalam Road

Unfortunate that govt decided to change the name of #Aurangzeb Road. Shows the govt is petty and doesn't know it's history, The way i see it,it wasn't named APJ abdul kalam road but it was an excuse to remove Emperor Aurangzeb's name , the name of ring road in Delhi could have easily named after APJ , why changing Aurangzeb road.Time changes everything! Will not surprise one day the road again renamed to Pragya road or Kodnani road or alike So When are we changing the names of the roads and naming them after Godse, Hedgewar., Babu Bajrangi, Maya Kodnani, Mohan Bhagwat ?

For the record #Sanghi historians ignore firmans (orders) by #Aurangzeb supporting temples& jain temples & gurudwaras!

When historians look back at Muslim rule in India, their perspective greatly shapes the way they present historical characters. Some people are seen as great and enlightened leaders, while others are ruthless tyrants. No one is more controversial than the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir, who ruled from 1658 to 1707.

By Hindus and Sikhs, he is seen as a cruel and ruthless emperor that restricted freedoms and imposed a religiously intolerant regime on the people. By Muslims he is seen as a devoted and religious-minded just sultan. This article will look past the rhetoric about Aurangzeb to understand him as a Muslim ruler in a Hindu-dominated country
Was Mughal emperor Aurangzeb responsible for destroying India's multiculturalism?

Message on Independence day 2015

Respected Managing Director AIBM College, Mr Ehthesham, Chief Guest, Madam Kalpana Kattimani, Principal AIBM College, Teaching, Non Teaching Staff And My Dear Students.

We have gathered here to celebrate the 69th Independence day. on this occasion it’s a great pleasure for me to extend greetings for your happiness and prosperity. My greetings to you and all the Indians living here and abroad. On this special occasion we shall remember with gratitude, the selfless and devoted services of our Armed Forces and Police Forces for preserving our internal security and maintaining law and order.

We as Indians! We respect plurality, assimilate different cultures & revel in the diversity, compassion. Sympathy runs through us, which in turn has given this country tremendous scope to improve on its own, unity in diversity shall be kept alive and intact. On this occasion as we are celebrating 69th Independence day we also mourn one of our beloved President and peoples leader, tributes and condolences for Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who passed away in Shillong, Meghalaya, after a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to the students of Indian Institute of Management on 27th of July 2015. Loved dearly by the young, Known as the Missile Man of India, Dr Kalam played a pivotal role in the Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. it is a great loss not only to India but to the entire fragment of world students.

Everyone present here I am sure is born in independent INDIA, It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent. We won freedom after a hard struggle. Since, our date of birth is post independent, it’s a bit difficult to understand or to get a real picture of pre-independence era. But, in this era of internet and social media no research and knowledge is impossible. we must realise the significance and the value of our freedom movement. The freedom struggle of India is full of sacrifices. More than 7 lakhs freedom fighters laid their lives as the cost of this freedom. We got freedom due to the great sacrifices of our martyrs, who had always with enemies of this nation with uninterrupted thought of future of this country.

Education is the most important element for growth and prosperity of a nation.Fortunately after our independence in 1947, we have come a long way in the field of education and have moved towards a knowledge society, as a result of the vision of our educationalists and the policies and actions of successive governments. Many of our educational institutions have excelled in the world. In order to revitalise our self-esteem and culture, it is vital to emphasise the role of the education system in creating an enlightened, dynamic and prosperous society utilising the advancement of science and technology.

Students here today are the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. In course of time,  you all will take place of our present leaders and administrators.  It is during the student life where the foundation is laid. In free india, duties and responsibilities of all indians have been increased. But the students have to play a special part in all that. Their duties and responsibilities are higher than that of any other.

The students here and all over the country shall realize fully the significance of the change we can bring to our country. our activities should be desirable and unobjectionable. In what so ever field or career we choose, we must contribute our best and we shall bring about a change in the world. Today the entire world is looking towards us with hope.

We need to understand that the India now Needs constructive work for overall development. We have to beat some very mighty nations of the world to become the superpower very soon.

I am sure, our youth, our leaders and our people can achieve the vision of developed India. Let us take a vow on this Independence Day that the nation is more important compared to any individual, party  or organisation.

I pray to the Almighty for Unity of Minds and our success in every aspect of life.
Jai Hind.

Remembering the Dandi March on India's 69th Independence Day

1. Unperishable thoughts
One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. - Subhash Chandra Bose.

2. Mind over machine guns
Bombs and pistols do not make a revolution. The sword of revolution is sharpened on the whetting-stone of ideas. - Bhagat Singh.

3. The religion of togetherness
The emphasis on religion as a basis of defining majorities and minorities in a secular state is quite misplaced and contradiction in terms. You all understand, I am sure, that religion does not aim at dividing. On the other hand, all true religions have a basic unity. - Lal Bahadur Shastri.

4. The first step forward
Progress is implied in independence. Without self-government neither industrial progress is possible, nor the educational scheme will be useful to the nation.
- Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

5. The power of the youth
What the country needs most at the present moment is a spirit of self-sacrifice on the part of our educated young men, and they may take it from me that they cannot spend their lives in a better cause than raising the moral and intellectual level of their unhappy low castes and promoting their well-being. - Gopal Krishna Gokhale.

6. Ideal India
No one would die of starvation in independent India... Its military expenditure would not be heavy. Its army would not subjugate its own people or other lands. Its best-paid officials would not earn a great deal more than its lowest-paid servants. And finding justice in it would be neither costly nor difficult. - Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

7. Sinless society
Seven social sins: politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, and worship without sacrifice. - Mahatma Gandhi.

8. The changemakers among US
If a country is to be corruption-free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. - APJ Abdul Kalam.

9. Defining oneself : I say it is not your pride that you are a Madrasi, it is not your pride that you a brahmin, it is not your pride that you belong to south India, it is not your pride that you are a Hindu, that it is your pride that you are an Indian. – Sarojini Naidu.

10. More than legalities
So long as you do not achieve social liberty, whatever freedom is provided by the law is of no avail to you. - BR Ambedkar.

I will not be giving up my LPG subsidy

A political party and its followers who threw a fit when the UPA government decreased the number of subsidized LPG cylinders now want everybody to renounce subsidy.

Vote them out for taking it away, was the outcry then. Give it up, is the new status symbol and update now. Good subsidy politics that helped candidate Narendra Modi has turned into bad middle class ethics for PM Modi.

The crux of Modi’s appeal is that government ‘subsidy’ is only for the poor and the ‘underprivileged’. For those who can afford to pay the market price, it is, thus, unethical to claim it.

Clever ploy: If you can’t convince them politically, blackmail them emotionally. Put the burden of subsidy on their conscience while you munch your chickens for Rs 29 in the Parliament’s canteen.

Let us get this off our chest straightaway. The government is not doing anybody a favour or being financially generous. It is just playing emotional politics to hide its predatory economics.

The Deccan Chronicle exposes the government’s double-speak on subsidy succinctly. "Modi should realise that international crude oil prices peaked during the UPA regime and crossed the $115 per barrel-mark. The crude prices have today come down to just about $50. However, petrol and diesel are still sold for nearly Rs 70 and Rs 60 per litre respectively and subsidised LPG cylinder for Rs 450. The rates are almost the same as during the UPA regime, when crude prices were much higher. As per the open market policy being adopted by the Union governments since Mr Vajpayee’s tenure, the current price of petrol should be Rs 30 per litre, diesel should be Rs 21 per litre and LPG cylinder for Rs 250. But the NDA government has been openly looting the public by imposing various taxes and deliberately keeping the prices higher. Under these circumstances, what right does Mr Modi have to ask people to give up subsidies voluntarily? If he is really sincere and committed towards saving public money, he should allow the prices of LPG and fuel to be in accordance with the present crude prices."

So, the NDA government is picking our pocket, charging us more than UPA (for unsubsidized cylinders) and then asking us to be generous enough to not reclaim what has been robbed. Clearly there is no shame in seeking what is rightfully ours.

To insinuate that not giving up LPG ‘subsidy’ is tantamount to not contributing to nation-building, leeching off government dole is a white lie. Most of the people who Modi expects to buy expensive cylinders are already paying huge chunks of their income to the government, for cross-subsidising many of its social schemes.
Most of us pay 10 to 33 per cent of our salary as income tax, whose slabs finance minister Arun Jaitley did not bother changing even after berating the UPA for being unkind to the middle class. In addition, there are several other taxes—VAT, service tax, toll tax, house tax, municipality tax, garbage collection tax, cess for education, cess for Swacch Bharat, clean Ganga, fuel surcharge…the list is long. (A back-of-the-hand calculation would reveal that a person in the highest-tax bracket ends up paying nearly half of his income to the government.)

The government would have been justified in appealing to our generosity if this money, even a part of it, was being used wisely for the welfare of those who contribute it. But it isn’t.

The government has almost withdrawn from school education, leaving the field open for the private players who overcharge us (another form of tax due to government incompetence). The government’s healthcare system has collapsed, where, again, private players are thriving. There is no form of social security for the old, handicapped, ill and the unemployed. The government doesn’t spend enough on keeping roads and streets safe for its citizens; it ignores the environment and does nothing to check pollution of air, water and other resources.

No, Prime Minister, we are already doing our best for nation-building. It is time the government repaid some of our generosity instead of asking for more charity through emotional atyachar.

You manage your finances, and let us deal with our kitchen and conscience.

‘Waqf property responsibility of every Muslim’, declares National Seminar on Awqaf in India

July 25-26, 2015 at Hotel The Lalit Ashok, Bangaluru –Karnataka

Organised by K.K. Educational & Charitable Trust, Bangalore
in association with
Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi

Bengaluru, July 26: A national seminar on Awqaf in India, jointly organised by KK Education and Charitable Trust (KKECT), Institute of Objective Studies (IOS), New Delhi and Karnataka State Board of Awqaf, was held on July 25-26, 2015 at hotel Lalit Ashok here. The delegates included chairmen and CEOs of wqaf boards from states, intellectuals, muthawallis of waqf institutions, senior legal experts, former judges and advocates, ulema, intellectuals, financial experts, community leaders and media representatives.

The seminar appeals to all the stakeholders, particularly the Muslim community and waqf boards, to implement the provisions of Waqf Act for the development, management and protection of awqaf in India. It is needless to state that after Waqf (Amendment) Act 2013 sufficient legal provisions in Waqf Act 1995 have been provided to protect and develop the waqf properties for the development of Muslim community. The following 18-point Bengaluru Declaration was issued at the end of the seminar:
  1. Waqfs are created for the overall benefit of the Muslim community and are the prime Islamic institutions, as divinely ordained asset. Therefore, protecting and utilising it for its purpose is the fundamental responsibility of every Muslim of India.
  2. Once a waqf is created it remains a waqf always, eternally, and cannot be alienated by anybody, because the properties are owned by Allah SWT.
  3. The waqf institutions, waqf boards and the muthawallis are the trustees or the managers of the waqf properties and are accountable to Allah SWT and the Muslim ummah and they earn reward from Allah (SWT) for their efforts.
  4. No muthawalli shall claim a hereditary right and the waqf boards shall frame the guidelines and qualifications for appointment ofmuthawallis.
  5. The entire Muslim community should get involved in the survey and identification of waqf properties conducted by survey commissioners in their respective states.
  6. Any Muslim occupying a waqf property illegally, encroaching waqf property, or occupying property without a lease agreement, or not paying fair or legally fixed rent, such an act should be considered as sin and shall be construed as a criminal act. The community should bring moral pressure on such persons to prevent such actions.
  7. Waqf boards are statutory and autonomous bodies established under a statute for management of awqaf and regulate them, and government should ensure its autonomy.
  8. Like any other statutory body the entire expenditure of the waqf boards has to be borne by the state and provide adequate staff for the smooth functioning of the waqf board.
  9. Every state should create a task force to take action to vacate the illegal occupation and encroachment of waqf properties.
  10. Data related to all waqf properties and the entire waqf administration should be digitised and the information on awqaf should be made available online in a time bound programme.
  11. Every waqf institution which has excess of income after meeting its expenses for the objective of the waqf should contribute a portion of its income for education and socio-economic upliftment of the Muslim community.
  12. Within six months all the states should establish Multi-Member Tribunals to deal with matters relating to awqaf.
  13. Every state should establish an Ombudsman or Arbitration Council headed by a retired Muslim judge of High Court to resolve waqf property disputes out of court wherever possible, particularly about the misuse of waqf properties by the muthawallis and others.
  14. Seek guidance of religious scholars to segregate unused portion of the land in burial grounds to prevent their illegal occupation and develop these waqf properties for the betterment of the community.
  15. The Muslims of India should invest in shares of NAWADCO as it provides a Sharia-based investment opportunity and make NAWADCO a vehicle for the development of waqf property.
  16. Educational institutions and hospitals established on a waqf property should reserve 25% of their seats and free treatment should be provided in such hospitals respectively for poor and economically weaker sections of the Muslim community.
  17. A national-level NGO shall be established to create awareness among the Muslim community and to retrieve the encroached and illegal occupation of waqf properties and also to assist the Waqf Boards in implementation of the Waqf Act 1995 and to work as a pressure group of the community in waqf matters. The responsibility to coordinate in forming a national NGO is entrusted to Dr K Rahman Khan
  18. Till the NGO is set up problems faced on awqaf matters may be sent to Dr K Rahman Khan at his email: krahmankhan@gmail.com, Mobile: +919845044122
In his presidential address of the inaugural on July 25, former Minorities Affairs Minister K. Rahman Khan explained that to make the deliberations focused and productive a system of group discussions by participants had been devised. Four such groups of participants were assigned 20 subjects related to Waqf maintenance and development to be discussed by them. The participants discussed these issues in three sessions over two days in what was described by Mr. Khan as a brainstorming format.

For each group a chairman and a rapporteur were assigned. The findings and suggestions emerging from these sessions were to become the basis for a Bengaluru Declaration to be issued at the valedictory session of the seminar. Thus there were fewer speeches and papers read than usual.

Earlier, the programme began with a recitation of the holy Quran. In his welcome address, Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam, Chairman of IOS, one of the three organisers of the seminar, made an impassioned plea to all stakeholders “to assess, ascertain and identify waqf properties in the country; identify the waqf properties which have been encroached upon in various states and Union Territories and suggest ways to retrieve the properties; identify the waqf properties illegally gifted, transferred, mortgaged, leased or sold etc. and suggest ways to fix responsibility and to retrieve the property; suggest ways and measures for proper utilisation of waqf properties; ascertain the status of implementation of the Waqf Act 1995 as may be considered necessary, so as to achive its objectives, including the retrieval of waqf properties encroached upon; to examine the functioning of the Central Waqf Council and suggest suitable measures for making it effective; to look into the working of state waqf boards and suggest ways for their proper functioning.”

The group discussion sessions that followed immediately after were conducted by highly competent individuals from the community. For instance, the first day’s pre-lunch session Group A (which discussed Waqf Amendment Act 2013 and Waqf Properties [Eviction of Unauthorised Occupation] Bill 2014 was chaired by Mr Justice Jawad Rahim and the rapporteur was the eminent lawyer from Mumbai Mr Yusuf Muchala. The first day’s Group B that discussed “Survey identification and notification of waqf properties and encroachments on and illegal occupation of waqf properties” had Liaquat Ali Khan, IPS (retd.) in the chair and Abdul Reyaz Khan as the rapporteur. Group C (on improving financial performance of wqaf boards and waqf institutions and bringing transparency and accountability in management of awqaf as well as deployment of waqf resources in service of community) was chaired by Kamal Faruqui, FCA, and the rapporteur was Abdul Raqeeb. Group D, that discussed NAWADCO and resource raising for development of waqf properties had Prof. Akhtarul Wasey in the chair and Rakesh Mohan as rapporteur. The Group A after lunch (discussing issues of waqf properties under ASI and Shariah issues in waqf properties management) was co-chaired by Prof. ZM Khan and Prof. Afzal Wani with Dr. Javed Jameel as rapporteur. The same high caliber of participation and conducting was managed throughout the two days.

The inaugural address was delivered by Karnataka minister of municipalities, local bodies, minority affairs and awqaf, Qamrul Islam. The valedictory address was delivered by Karnataka minister of law, human rights and parliamentary affairs, TB Jaichand. Minister of infrastructure, development, information and Haj, Roshan Baig was the guest of honour in the valedictory session.

The programme concluded with an elaborate vote of thanks by chief coordinator Ubaidullah Sharif, in which he took care to thank every dignitary, participant and volunteer from Bengaluru and Delhi, often by name.

The two-day proceedings were compered by Agha Sultan, except the valedictory session, which was admirably compered by the young Agha Sultan Jr. The seminar was jointly organised by KK Foundation, Karnataka Waqf Board and Institute of Objective Studies.

The mother of all scams - Vyapam

Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam

The fast unfolding Vyapam scandal is viewed by a substantial number of political commentators as an albatross around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s neck that will certainly restrict his maneuverability and reduce him to helplessness. This is how the people at large see this mother of all scams arising from a BJP-ruled state, a huge grind stone around the PM’s neck.

Come as it does at the first anniversary of Modi rule at the Centre, it is far more ominous and destructive than UPA’s scandals that came in the late stage of its second term in office. Hence, Mr Modi has taken far less time to get discredited than Dr Manmohan Singh. In fact, in its evil and murderousness Vyapam surpasses all of UPA’s scams put together. After all, nobody was killed in those swindles.

On the contrary, as many as 45 people have been mysteriously bumped off in Vyapam-related murders, as per the opposition parties. The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, the epicentre of this evil, has admitted “only” 25 Vyapam-related murders. The SIT has calculated the toll at 35. The murders have been done so artistically that even the families of some of the victims believe that their men died from natural causes. All the victims were either accused of involvement in the scam or were Vyapam officials, or some other people working at institutions with some relation to Vyapam.

The perpetrators of the serial murders are “lucky” in a certain, perverse, sense. Families of victims often do not want the trouble of police visiting them regularly in two cases: that of their men having been involved in the huge scam, as well as their murder by the scamsters to destroy proof of their involvement. Some families are claiming their men died from natural causes just to wriggle out of the mess.

It is important to note that the victims are not always and invariably disadvantaged people. Well-to-do people are also being regularly done away with, the most high-profile being Ram Naresh Yadav’s son. Yadav, a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is currently the governor of Madhya Pradesh. Even this family is claiming that their man died from natural causes. His association with the scamsters is well-known, but his family does not want further trouble. Even Ram Naresh Yadav’s gubernatorial position is said to be uncertain now.

Whatever else they are, the scamsters seem to be extremely influential people entrenched in power in the state and at Centre. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of BJP has been dodging demands for a CBI inquiry into the murky affair involving bribery and swindle of thousands of crores of rupees topped with the murder of up to 45 persons in mysterious ways. When the pressure became unbearable, Chouhan relented and ordered a CBI enquiry.

However, pinning too much hope on CBI is not realistic as this supposed watchdog of democracy has often been reduced to a mere lapdog of the people in power

APJ Abdul Kalam: Unparalelled Genius and Spiritual Technocrat

When I recently started working on my new project, the creation of worldmuslimpedia, a website dedicated to Muslim achievers, the first person whose biography I prepared and put on the website was Abdul Kalam’s. These are the introductory remarks about him. Read full feature at http://www.worldmuslimpedia.com/apj-abdul-kalam. I put him his name under the category of “Living Legends”. Ah! He is no more a “living” legend.

APJ Abdul Kalam: Unparalelled Genius and Spiritual Technocrat

Dr. Javed Jamil

The romance of Dr APJ Kalam's ascending is indeed contemporary India's best fairy tale material. His story reads like the Indian version of Abraham Lincoln's from –log-house-to-Whitehouse saga. What makes this story especially delightful is the tribute and salute offered to his talent and contribution by the ever-shifting never trusted politicians of India. Dr Kalam epitomizes the “spiritual technocrat” and his elevation to Rashtrapati Bhavan is testimony to the universal admiration we have for spotless integrity in modern times, despite the corruption enveloping our lives. His life story is an allegory of the glory of unwavering sincerity, faith and devotion to great values of life.

A simple, devout and disciplined boat owner's son, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was born in 1931into a middle class family in Rameswaram. He learnt his first great lessons in the school of his father’s daily routine and faith. He himself pays homage to his father’s simple and great life."I have throughout my life tried to emulate my father in my world of science and technology,” says Dr Kalam, "I have endeavoured to understand the fundamental truths revealed to me by my father, and feel convinced that there exists a divine power that can lift one from confusion, misery, melancholy and failure, and guide one to one’s true place."

This training has defined Dr Kalam's life. Before reaching the top he had his share of failures; but his faith made him turn every failure into a teacher. In his career he went up the ladder defeating his failures, which generally defeat a man without a faith. Starting a senior Scientific Assistant at the DTP(Air). He moved on to INCOSPAR as a rocket engineer, and then to NASA. On his return from NASA, he was first involved in India’s first rocket launch in 1963.

Later he was handpicked by the great Dr Vikram Sarabhai and was chosen to be a project leader. To him was entrusted the job of designing the fourth stage of India 's satellite launch vehicle(SLV).How Dr Kalam learnt to cope with surmount failures is amply testified by the incident of SLV3 failure. He remembers the failed attempt not as a depressing defeat but as an incident which became an opportunity to learn great lesson. He recalls the lesson he received from his mentor, Dr Brahm Prakash,

“To live only for some unknown future is superficial. It is like climbing a mountain to reach the peak without experiencing its sides. The sides of the mountain sustain life, not the peak. This is where things grow, experience is gained, and technologies are measured. The importance of the peak lies only in the fact that it defines the sides. So I went on towards the top, but always experiencing the sides. I had a long way to go but I was no in hurry. I went in little steps-just one step after another-but each step towards the top."

The lesson was indeed learnt well in July 1980 India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV3) was successfully launched, and with this launch India joined the club of countries having satellite launch capability.

It is customary to state that India’s rocketry and missile programme took grant strides under Dr Kalam's Supervision. India’s space odyssey had its great Odysseus in Dr Kalam. He is to a great extent, responsible for making India a missile power, and gave Indian defence forces formidable weaponry. As a defence scientist he was chiefly responsible for developing India's defence arsenal by producing missiles Agni Prithvi, Akash, Trishul and Nag. He is also credited with guiding India to the status of a Nuclear Power.

Dr Kalam has been honoured by his countrymen, befitting his contribution and stature, the greatest civilian honour, the Bharat-Ratan, and the highest Indian office in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. But he is remembered today as one who turns his audience into a class of inquisitive students, wherever he goes. It was on several occasions a great sight, never seen before, when the Indian President addressed his audience and the invited people to ask him questions. He would receive a great response and then answer the questions in the fashion of a professor explaining some equations to his students this image will abide in the minds of all Indians.

A gifted visionary, Dr Kalam has prepared a roadmap for the India of 21st century. His vision 2020 projects India as a superpower, an economic giant and a great nation of modern times. His faith in India's great future has given all Indians a true reason to smile with hope, confidence and pride. He is today India's most respected, popular and most trusted man and fascinates all as one whose life is equally colored by spirituality and atomic energy, by missile technology and the vina (a musical instrument) by science and poetry, by queries and faith.

It is interesting to learn that the man whose life is devoted to science and technology finds his philosophy of life in the Holy Quran, the Divine life and the works of Khalil Gibran.

IOS 11th Shah Waliullah Award to Maulana Syed Mohammad Rabey Hasani Nadwi

Maulana Syed Mohammad Rabey Hasani Nadvi, president, All India Personal Law Board and Rector, the world-famous Islamic University, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow, was awarded the 11th Shah Waliullah Award “on Education in Islamic Perspective.”

Maulana Rabey could not make it to the function on account of ill-health. The award was received by Dr Shah Ebadur Rehman Nishat in the absence of the awardee at a glittering ceremony organised by the Institute of Objective Studies at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Auditorium, Jamia Millia Islamia here on August 1, 2015.

While the former Chief Justice of India Justice A M Ahmadi handed the cheque of Rs one lakh and the scroll, Maulana Abdullah Mughesi, president of the All India Milli Council, presented the memento to him, a release from IOS said here.

Dr Nishat, who deputised for Maulana Rabey, read out a message from him. In his message, the Maulana expressed his gratitude to the IOS for shortlisting him as a recipient of the 11th Shah Waliullah Award. He noted that the topic for the current year’s award was relevant as the Muslims had achieved excellence in the realm of knowledge by following Islamic teachings in letter and spirit during a period extending to about 1,000 years, the impact of which was worthy of emulation by others.

He urged Muslims to understand the value of education in Islamic perspective. He remarked that the holy Quran mandated seeking real knowledge, which came through observation as well as experience.

In his presidential remarks, Maulana Abdullah Mughesi said that the contribution of Shah Waliullah was not bound by time. The movement he started to acquaint the community with the Quran was equally relevant today so far as the guidance of the Quran and the Hadith was concerned to seek solution to present day’s problems. He called for paying special attention to the popularisation of the teachings of the Quran.

Highlighting the purpose of the institution of the award, Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam, chairman of the IOS, said that it was aimed at establishing a connect with the new generation in terms of cultural heritage, as a race that is unaware of its legacy cannot not progress, the release said.

As the entire scholarship of Shah Waliullah was derived from the Quran, the IOS deemed it fit to prepare 150 small booklets on important topics in the light of the Quran and Hadith. Besides, the project included 25 booklets that addressed the objections raised by non-Muslims and other issues of the contemporary world. He informed that these books were planned to be published in 17 different languages. The entire work on the Quran and Hadith would be compiled in two volumes with references. In addition, preparations were afoot to bring out a book on the contribution of Muslims, particularly Indian Muslims, in different fields of life during the last 1,400 years.

Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rehmani, general secretary, Islamic Fiqh Academy (IFA), observed that a closer look at the works of Shah Waliullah and the theory he propounded revealed that three distinct inferences could be deduced from them. These were (1) he established the relationship of the Ummah with the Quran and Hadith (2) Islam was imbued with modern knowledge, and (3) he stood for a balanced scholarship. He emphasised that all these three things were necessary to attain excellence.

Justice A M Ahmadi held that education was a must for Muslims, saying that education led to empowerment and empowerment could be used for progress. It pained him to see that children who should be in schools, were roaming on roads purposelessly.

He said that since education had been made free for children in the age-group of 6-14, parents should make it sure that their wards went to schools. He went to the extent of saying that the parents who failed to send their children to school should be punished.

President of the Jamaat Islami-i-Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, explained the contest in which the Quranic commandment of ‘Iqra’ was revealed. He said that the Quran expressly commanded to read in the name of Allah. He maintained that education which was not imparted in the name of Allah was an exercise in futility. The chairman of Tasmia Education Society, Syed Farooq, while referring to the life of the Prophet (SW) in the context of education said that his life was worth emulating for us. He was the finest businessman and his way of life was derived from the Quran.

Earlier, the member-secretary of the Board administering the Award and Finance Secretary, IOS, Prof Ishtiyaque Danish, in his introductory remarks dwelt on the selection process of the award. He said that Shah Waliullah wrote 22 books in Arabic. He also translated the Quran into Persian, which was later translated into Urdu by his son, Shah Abdul Aziz. He informed that the theme of the 12th Shah Waliullah award would be “Media, Society and Indian Muslims.”

Dr Shah Ebadur Rehman called for critical analysis of today’s problems and their comparison with the problems of the previous centuries.

While the citation was read out by SM Shafiq, a profile of Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi was presented by senior Urdu journalist and representative of the Voice of America Urdu Service, Suhail Anjum. Two young research scholars, Mohammad Kifayatullah and Najmus Sahar were jointly presented a cheque of Rs 25, 000 as Shah Waliullah Award for the best essays on the occasion.

The function began with the recitation of a Quranic verse by Mohammad Athar Husain Nadwi. Arabic scholar, Dr Nakhat Husain Nadwi conducted the proceedings.

The function was attended by Khalid Abdullah Assarihi from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, vice chairman of the IOS, Professor Rifaqat Ali Khan, Professor Afzal Wani, Dr Syed Qasim Rasool, Engineer, Mohammad Salim, Mohammad Ahmad, Abdul Wahab Khilji and Kamal Faruqui, besides a number of teachers, research scholars and students from Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Hamdard and the Jamia Millia Islamia, the release added.

Etiquette of a Righteous Husband

Shaykh ‘Abdul Muhsin Al-Qasim, Imaam of Masjid An-Nabawee
Whoever comes from a kind and compassionate background will have a tender heart and so such men must bear in mind that their wife is the one who gave birth to his children, takes care of his wealth and maintains his secrets. So be kind to your wives and openly express your joy, for smiling livens the heart and wipes away hatred, and praising the wife for her appearance, cooking and adornment wins her heart. Moreover, Islam has allowed husbands to lie to their wives in order to increase the love between them.

Exchanging gifts is the key to winning a heart and is a reflection of one’s love.
Being easy upon one’s wife, abandoning ambiguity and bad communication and arrogance are ways to achieve a lasting happy marital life.

‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“A man should be like a child with his wife, happy and easy going, but when he sits with men, he should act as they do.”

Be an upright and straightforward man and your wife will thereby also improve and become more righteous, by the will of Allah.

Do not look at that which is unlawful for you to do so, because the evil consequences of this sin will impact upon your house. Watching women on satellite television causes one’s wife to appear ugly and unpleasant, and lowers one’s rank in her sight, which is a reason why hearts become distant and love diminishes, which in turn causes conflicts to emerge.

Deal with your wife as you would like her to deal with you in all areas, because it is natural that she would like you to be with her as you would like her to be with you.

Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“I like to take care of my appearance for my wife just as I would like her to beautify herself for me.”

Listen to your wife’s criticism with an open mind and heart because the wives of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would too discuss his opinions without him becoming angry. Also a husband should not take from his wife’s wealth without her permission, because it belongs to her.

Treat her kindly and be generous with her and do not be stingy; remember that your wife likes to talk to you regarding all her affairs, so be attentive and listen to her; indeed this is a reflection of perfect manners.

Never go home with a gloomy face because your children need to clearly see your love and sympathy; be kind to your children and make them enjoy your presence, guidance and instructions and always listen to them.

Whenever the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would see Faatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, he would say:
“Welcome, O my daughter!”
Then he would seat her to his right or left.
(Muslim)

Being kind to the members of one’s household reflects real manhood, as Al-Baraa’, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“I entered upon Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, in his house; he saw his daughter ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, lying down with a fever, so Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, kissed her on the cheek and asked: ‘How are you feeling my daughter?’”
(Bukhari)

Helping at home is a sign of ones faithfulness; ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, was asked what the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would do while at home, she replied,
‘He was just like any other human being, he would sew his garment, milk the sheep and serve himself.’
(Ahmad)

Being generous with ones family is the best charity that one can give and time spent with ones friends should not be at the expense of that with ones family, for they are worthier to spend ones time with.

Never remind your wife with mistakes that she may have made, nor hint about her shortcomings.

Conceal your problems from the children because it has a negative affect on them and reduces the respect they have towards their parents.

Anger is the cause of all disputes, and the relation between a man and his wife is far too valuable to ruin in a moment of anger; remain silent whenever you become upset and remember that forgiveness is closer to piety and wisdom.

‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“Women should be kept at home and their anger dealt with by remaining quiet.”

The rights of the wife are great and only a noble man will fully honour his wife and respect her.

‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:
“The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would always mention Khadeejah, and he would always slaughter sheep, divide them, and then distribute it among her friends, He did this so much that I once said to him: ‘You act as though there are no other women apart from Khadeejah’”

Degree Dikhao Mahashay !

" Let me define a leader..he must work with integrity"

Just few days ago Narendra modi was MA in his profile, after Tomar's arrest he became BA again, Dear PM, at least answer why did you quietly remove your MA degree from your profile? Tomar lied so went to jail....but mahatma PM I am sure isn't lying about his degrees. No one has issue in having a uneducated PM if he is capable. Issue is when he fakes it & say he is University topper & a Post Graduate.

Education is not must for any biggest post in India, but declaring false Education in affidavit shall be a serious crime, Degree is not criteria of one's capability but lying about it is the proof of one's integrity. It is indeed sad depressing that #DegreeDikhaoPMSaab is trending in social media. Degrees are not important for a PM, but honesty and integrity are! But who cares?
Sachin Tendulkar was 10th pass Dhirubhai Ambani was 4th Pass Bill gates College drop out, and many more can be added to this list but None of them ever claimed that they are university topper & posses PG degree like our PM. If at all PM shows his degree I am sure there will be a price tag too

Did you Know ? No one ever asked Dr Manmohan Singh to show his degree because University of Cambridge runs scholarship programmer in his name

If anyone of you reading this blog become PM than learn to Hide your Wife's, Hide your Voice ,Hide your 56" ,Hide your Degrees ,Hide your Face, Hide Yourself with foreign Tours (Unlimited)

Motivating Quotes

The tough times are meant to teach us and strengthen us, not destroy us. Never be complacent during good times for this life is but a test.

Don't flaunt & show off your good deeds. Keep it between you & the Almighty. None can grant you Paradise. That's something only ALMIGHTY can do!

Disregard the noise you hear around you simply because in the end, it's just between you and the Almighty, not between you and everyone else

Allah praises الكاظمين الغيظ (the ones swallowing anger). Good people also get angry but suppress it like swallowing something quickly.
