Children’s Day Celebration at Rashtrapati Bhavan; Karnataka Scouts Unit Earns National Recognition
New Delhi: The grand halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan brimmed with excitement as President Droupadi Murmu hosted a vibrant Children’s Day celebration, welcoming students from across India—including a proud delegation from the Hindustan Scouts and Guides Karnataka, Bengaluru Public School Unit.
Organised to mark Children’s Day and honour the vision of the nation’s first Prime Minister, the event brought together over a hundred students from various states at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. Representing Karnataka, eight bright students from the Bengaluru Public School Unit attended the function, accompanied by Dr. Afshad Ahmed BZ (Managing Trustee), Mr. Rajiv VR (Headmaster), Mrs. Sunita Angadi (Coordinator), and Mrs. Padma Priya (Science Teacher). Their selection recognized their exemplary community service and commitment to the Scouts’ ideals of discipline, teamwork, and service.
The celebration began with a ceremonial welcome, followed by interactive sessions with the President, who shared uplifting insights on the importance of integrity, hard work, and nation-building. She reminded her young audience, “Children are the future of our nation. It is essential to nurture them into confident and responsible citizens.”
The atmosphere turned festive as participants showcased their talents through cultural performances and creative displays that reflected India’s diversity and youthful spirit. The Karnataka Scouts stood out for their active participation and enthusiasm.
Adding joy to the occasion, President Murmu distributed sweets and gifts, leaving the children delighted and inspired. Many students expressed that meeting the President was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” that renewed their resolve to serve society selflessly.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Afshad Ahmed BZ described the invitation as “an unprecedented honour” and said it would encourage future participation in Scouts and Guides activities across Karnataka.
The event marked a proud milestone for the Hindustan Scouts and Guides Karnataka – Bengaluru Public School Unit, celebrating youth leadership and the enduring values of the scouting movement in nation-building.
